Why Breathe

Why do we breathe?

We breathe to facilitate the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between our bodies and the environment. This process is crucial for the functioning of our cells and overall survival.

Why should we breathe?

Conscious control and manipulation of the breath has been practiced for centuries to enhance relaxation, diminish stress, clear negative or stuck energies and improve overall health and well-being.

If you're new to breathwork, there are various techniques and styles available depending on what you’re trying to accomplish. Here are a few basic techniques to help you begin:

Diaphragmatic breathing

This technique involves taking deep breaths into your belly, rather than shallow breaths into your chest. It can assist in stress and anxiety reduction, better digestion, and increased oxygenation throughout the body.

Alternate nostril breathing

This technique involves breathing in through one nostril and out through the other, alternating between the two. It can help balance the body's energy, reduce stress, and enhance focus and concentration.

Box breathing

This technique involves inhaling for a fixed number of counts, holding the breath for the same number of counts, exhaling for the same number of counts, and then holding the breath again for the same number of counts. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, enhance mental clarity, and increase relaxation.

Breath counting

This technique involves simply counting your breaths as you inhale and exhale. It can help improve focus and concentration, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote relaxation.

No matter which technique you choose, it's essential to approach breathwork with an open mind and a willingness to experiment. It’s likely you’ll feel sensations you’ve never felt before. With practice, you can develop a deeper connection to your body, your breath and the magical benefits that come with it.
